Marvelous Magnolia Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello my lovelies,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas day and got everything you wished for, maybe one or two crafting goodies?? Phil and I had a quiet day on our own, but it was still a lovely day and I was thoroughly spoilt. I am so looking forward to today as our sons and their girlfriends are spending the day with us and it will be a lively affair!!

Anyway enough rambling from me, here is my inspirational card for the Marvelous Magnolia challenge which is running for a total of 3 weeks, so there is plenty of time to get your card made. The theme is the ever popular ‘Anything Goes’. Our sponsor this time is Hobbycutz

I opted to make a card using an oldie ‘Tilda with Peony’. I have coloured her with Copics in grey tones and added just a hint of Black Primsa pencil. I can’t still put the Frantage away and sprinkled it over most of the die cuts. The dies I have used are Heartfelt Creations Layered Elegant Swirl die, Cheery Lynn Lace Corner Deco, the leaves are a Crealies die and the last one is a Magnolia DooHickey Heart Swirl. The little butterfly I made using a Martha Stewart mould and clay, I bought these at the NEC in November and this is the first chance I have had to use them, it was great fun and so easy.

Copics I used:
Skin: T4, 2, 0
Hair: 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 0
Clothes & Peony: T6, 4, 2, 0
Background: T6, 4, 2, 0

Pencil: Black

My teamies have made some lovely creations so if you get a chance, pop over and take a peek.

I hope you all have a lovely day, and thank you for popping in!

Take care,

Hugs

Merry Christmas & Thank You

Hello my lovelies,

I am sorry but I don’t have a card to share with you today as time has passed me by the last week or so, but I just want to say a big THANK YOU for all your support and the lovely comments you have taken the time to leave me this year. At times they have picked me up when I have lost my mojo or felt a bit down.

A warm crafty welcome to my new followers, I hope to catch up with you all in the New Year!

So it just leaves me to wish you a Merry Christmas and I hope you are able to spend some quality time with your families.

I will back on Boxing Day with a new card and challenge.

Until then, take care.

Sunday 15 December 2013

Good morning everyone,

Just popping in to let you know that the Ribbon Girls are running a super competition

Just for kids aged 16 and under

We know lots of you like to make cards or do various other crafts when your Mums, Aunties, Grandmas, Nannas, carers and big sisters and so on are making cards or colouring in so we thought it would be nice to have a special challenge JUST FOR KIDS!

The challenge will run from 11am Sunday 15th December until 9pm on Saturday 28th December.

The winners will be announced on New Years Eve - we're sure you will have some time to fill in before Christmas and maybe some spare time between Christmas and New Year - you might even be hoping to get some new craft things in your Christmas stocking and this is a great opportunity to put them to good use.

There will be 3 prizes of crafty goodies and the challenge will be judged by 3 well known UK crafters

Dawny Phillips freelance designer, craft tutor and TV presenter for Lili of the Valley
Kath Stewart  well known Freelance Craft Designer, Craft Tutor & Demonstrator for Fiskars
Andrea Gourley - Craft Designer and Teacher

The winners will have their project displayed here on our blog, on The Ribbon Girl Facebook Page and on the front page of The Ribbon Girl online store website on New years Day, 1st January 2014 - you could be famous!

You can enter any type of project, for example you could make a card - could be a thank you card, a birthday card, a get well soon card, do a drawing or painting, a piece of knitting, bead work, embroidery, crochet or sewing - in fact, any type of craft you like to do as long as it is your own work.  No need to send us the project, just ask an adult to photograph it for you and put your project on their craft blog so they can enter it for you using the inlinks button below - don't worry if you don't have a blog, just get an adult to email a photo of your project to Mary and she will enter it for you - let us have your name, age and an email address so we can make contact if you are chosen as the winner.

Good luck everyone and we're really looking forward to seeing all of your fabulous projects
so
g e t   c r a f t i n !!!

So come on everyone, get those kids crafting to be in with a chance of winning a gorgeous prize.

LOTV Holy Light

Good evening everyone,

I hope you are all having a good week.

Just another week and half left of school and I am so looking forward to the holidays! I am feeling quite festive now and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. I am almost sorted now; just a few more cards to make and I will be done. Sadly I will miss making Christmas cards as they are my favourite type of card to make.

So I thought I would share a card I made using an LOTV stamp, Holy Light She is one of my favourite LOTV stamps. I coloured her using Copics and a few highlights have been added using Primsa Pencils. I added some stickles to her wings to give some sparkle. The sentiments are also an LOTV set and are called Grunge Christmas Postmarks. The roses are from WOC and have had some Diamond Dust sprinkled over them and the flower sprays (I have fallen in love them) are from Live and Love Crafts. The papers are from the new Maja collection called Vintage Frost Basics. The ribbon, lace and pom pom trim are from my stash. Please click on the pictures below which will take you directly to the store.

Copics I used:
Skin E21, 00, 000, R20
Hair: E44, 43, 42, 41, 40
Robe: B99, 97, 95, 93, 91

New Challange LHOSM - 'Winter Wonderland'

Hello my lovelies,

I hope you have had a good week. I am really looking forward to Christmas and have finally got myself organised. Phil and I went shopping yesterday, surprisingly it was very stress free and hallelujah all the Christmas shopping is done. Just the family cards to make now. Anyway enough rambling and on to today’s card.

We have a new challenge at LHOSM which is our last one for this year, but we will back on January 5th.  The theme is ‘Winter Wonderland’ and our wonderful sponsor this time is the fabulous Live & Love Crafts.

I have made a little scene using Tilda with Fir, North Pole Whity Polar Bear, North Pole Pingy Penguin and Sea background stamp. I have used Copics and just a hint of Prisma Pencils.  I tried to give the sky a bit more of a wintery feel by adding a touch of yellow and pink (although you can’t really see the pink) and added some white Frantage for the falling snow. I used Glossy accents to give the effect of ice on the sea and plenty of Glamour Dust for the lying snow.  I sprinkled some Diamond Dust onto the Roses to give a nice frosty feel and the fir cones have been painted with Gesso. The dies I have used are Marianne Forest Branch and Cheery Lynn Flourish Leaf Strip.

 Copics I used:
Sky: W4, 3, 2, 1, 0, Y23, R21
Pingy: C7, 6, 5, 3, 2, 1, 0
Whity: C3, 1, 0,
Tree: C5, 3, 1, 0
Sea: C3, 1, 0
Tilda with Fir:
Skin E21, 00, 000
Coat, Hat & Boots: C5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0
Mittens & Tights: E43, 42, 41, 40
Tree: YG99, 97, 95, 93

I know this is a busy time for everyone, but if you get  a chance, pop
over and have a look at my wonderful teamies creations and even better still enter our challenge to be in with a chance of winning a fantastic prize.

A big warm hello to my new followers, thank you for popping in and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

 Hugs
